Home Admissions Admissions Guide

Please be aware that all the programs at Hanyang Cyber University(HYCU) are delivered in Korean.
HYCU does not require Korean Language Proficiency score upon admission. However, students who want to be admitted to Hanyang Cyber University should have Korean language skills as equivalent to the following qualifications in order to successfully complete programs at HYCU.

  • Students with BA degree or higher at universities in Korea
  • Students who completed more than one academic year of undergraduate or graduate program at universities in Korea
  • Students with 5th rank or higher in KPT

Freshman and Transfer Admission

Foreign students (Non-Korean citizenship) whose parents are both non-Korean nationals (excluding Koreans residing in overseas or holding other nationalities)
Foreign students who have completed elementary, junior-high, high school education for over 12 years outside Korea or have equivalent qualification (excluding International schools located in Korea)

Transfer Admission

Foreign students who wish to transfer to second year (sophomore) at HYCU should have completed 1 year of undergraduate education outside Korea or have equivalent qualification
Foreign students who wish to transfer to third year (junior) at HYCU should have completed 2 years of undergraduate education outside Korea or have equivalent qualifications

(Note)

  • Foreign students who have illegal visa status are not eligible for admission.
  • Foreign students who are not registered as foreigners by the Ministry of Justice or whose parents have Korean citizenship are not eligible for admission as Foreign Students.

Application Procedure

  • Review for Personal Statement and Study Plan (80 points) and Essay-type examination (20 points)
  • Admission decision will be made based on total scores after reviewing submitted documents
  • Criteria for applicants having a tied score: Study Plan score, Essay score, Age

Required Documents

    • Single copy of completed application form
    • Single copy of Personal Statement and Study Plan (Free Format)
    • Single copy of Essay-type examination

Freshman and Transfer Admission

  • Documentary Evidence related to foreigner status (Certificate of Alien Registration or equivalent)
  • A copy of graduation certificate or equivalent from prior education institutes
  • A copy of the official transcript for elementary, junior-high, and high school
  • A certificate of the Facts concerning Entry and Exit of the applicant
  • A certificate authenticating bank balance of over USD 10,000
  • Affidavit of financial support of the applicant’s or family’s
  • Documentary Evidence for Admission, Application form for Student ID Card
    : Two color photos(3x4㎝)
  • Official language proficiency test scores (TOEIC, TOEFL, TEPS) (if applicable)

Transfer Admission

  • Certificates/Diplomas AND official transcripts of Undergraduate school

(Note)

All documents submitted for admission must be originals. If original documents cannot be submitted, a copy of the original should be submitted with a seal affixed by the issuing institution or by the Admissions Promotion Team.
All certificates/diplomas submitted must be in Korean . Documents in any other language must have a notarized translation attached to it.
All certificates and transcripts submitted should be notarized through Apostille.
Application Fee 30,000 Right after completion and submission of Application Form On-line deposit or by credit card
Entrance Fee 300,000 Covered up to 12 credits.
For more credits, more tuition should be paid.

Foreign Students Scholarship 30% Tuition Waiver Paid for a year
  • Scholarship will be offered through the year of admission when GPA of 3.0 or higher is maintained.
  • Scholarship is not offered in Summer and Winter semesters.
  • Admission will be cancelled either before or after first semester begins when results show an unqualified or dishonest application.
  • Students who receive admittance to this university are not allowed to double-register at other universities.
  • All submitted documents and application fees will not be returned.
  • Applicants who fail to pay fees and submit required documents in time are automatically dropped from admission.
  • Students applying for refund must submit the following documents.
    * Withdrawal
    : A written letter stating as such accompanied by the original tuition receipt or other evident documents
    * Overpayment or wrongly-paid fees
    : A written letter stating as such accompanied by the original receipt of payment or transferred funds documenting the amount unduly paid.
  • Tuition refunds follow provision 58 of HYCU Regulations.
  • In the case that a preliminary student fails to register and the school cannot contact him or her, the next potential qualified student will be offered admittance.
  • Applicants are responsible for any inconveniences caused by the applicant not updating or providing the correct contact information.
01. Selection of Majors Prospective students can refer to the description of departments on the school’s homepage (http://www.hanyangcyber.ac.kr) and select a department to apply for.
02. Admissions Confirmation Students should confirm the due date of admission, eligibility standards and notice to be attended to in advance.
03. Application Form, Study Plan, and Essay Students need to fill out on-line application form and write a study plan and essay. To be submitted online.
04. Payment of Application Fee Students have to pay the application fee (30,000 won) by credit card or wire transfer.
05. Submission of Required Documents Required documents

* Submission: by registered-mail or visit.
※ If applicants fail to submit all of the required documents, they will be automatically dropped from admission.
06. Admissions Results Announcement Results will be announced through SMS or email.
07. Payment of Basic Tuition Within seven days after the announcement, successful candidates should pay basic tuition: entrance fee and minimum course tuition. Payment can be made by credit card, wire transfer, or directly at a bank.
08. Registration for Courses Students have to register for courses for the semester
(Minimum 12 credits and Maximum 18 credits)
09. Payment for Additional Tuition When students register for more than 12 credits, which is the required minimum credit load per semester, they are responsible for the charge of the extra credits in their course load
10. Semester Begins Will be announced semester by semester
